Tainan City

Our next destination was Tainan, the oldest city in Taiwan and a former capital. We took the high speed rail there, which was fast and comfortable.

Shinkansen

We stayed at Silks Place Hotel, a luxurious and elegant hotel with a rooftop pool and a spa. We felt like royalty there.

We spent two days exploring Tainan's rich cultural heritage and historical sites.

We visited Confucius Temple located in the city centre.

We went to Anping Fort, a Dutch fort built in the 17th century. We learned about the history of Taiwan's colonization.

We also walked along Shennong Street, a charming street with old houses, shops and cafes.

On the way back to the railway station, we visited Chimei Museum, a private museum that houses a collection of art, musical instruments, weapons and natural history specimens. We were impressed by the diversity and quality of the exhibits.

Our next trip was to Jiaoxi.
